Today I went on a little adventure.
I was sitting around our hostile in San Juan Del Sur for debrief and felt the urge to go explore some more of the breath taking nature God has placed here. I asked if there was anyone that was feeling up for a hike and I found one eager person; Anna Few.
The original idea was to simply just hike as far out as we could following the beach and then climb the rocky shore line point and most likely get stuck at some point. Everything went according to plan besides the getting stuck part because we actually found a new path.

Anna and I found a little broken down almost nonexistent staircase that seemed a little sketchy but hey, when you’re in a third world country a lot of things look sketchy so we pressed on as usual. As we kept walking up the steps the brush got thicker and at times even covered the walk way. Eventually we popped out onto a series of roads that eventually lead to Jesus, yes Jesus.

Let me explain, San Juan Del Sur has the second largest Jesus statue in and is said to bless the local fishermen. It is on the highest point over looking the bay and it provides an amazing view and if you are up for a Mount Everest like climb and sweet talking the guard to let you in if you don’t have any cash on you.

We didn’t plan to take climb to the submit to see Jesus, but when the opportunity presented itself via the hidden staircase we took it.
After our climb up the 78 degree incline and cutting through a little Nicaraguan forest we received our reward in full. Our eyes grew to the size of dinner plates and our mouths dropped open. The only words and sounds I could say were “Wow”, “Holy cow”, and “My goodness”.  The view seemed to be straight out of a National Geographic.

I looked over the bay, ocean and mountains and all a sudden had a real shrinking feeling. I felt really small, like fraction of a piece of dust small. I looked out over a massive ocean and over mountains, which I seriously doubt could be moved even if we wanted them too, and felt really tiny in His massive hands. Then accompanying the “tiny itty-bitty” feeling came a sense of peace and awe.

Peace came from knowing that God had it all in the palm of His hand and not a single stone or drop of water was going to move without his approval.

Awe came from seeing the vast size and beauty of everything. The whole scene was HUGE! The ocean went on forever and the mountains seemed to be un-moveable but to God they are just like silly putty, easily able to move as He pleases. Then the beauty of it all. I don’t even think you can really describe a scene when you are seeing God in it. You have to see something for yourself and see God in it to understand the type of beauty I saw that day.

Point is; God is really big and really cool too.
Of course I am not going to talk this big scene up and then not show…. So just a taste.
